Getting Here

Road

There are a number of main motorway connections to the South West. The main route into Cornwall is reached via Exeter in Devon where the A30 dual carriageway takes you the rest of the way to Cornwall.

From London to Penzance (M4, M5, A30) is some 310 miles (498 km) - allow six hours by car (four and a half hours if travelling outside peak times).
From Birmingham to Penzance (M6, M5, A30) is some 274 miles (441 km) - allow five and a half hours by car.

Rail

Penzance is well served by mainline train operators (Virgin / First Great Western) with direct services from London Paddington (5½ hrs), the Midlands, North West, North East and Scotland, and with good connexions to Wales and the South East.

Inexpensive local train services also operate from Penzance to St. Ives and other destinations in Cornwall and Devon. 

The Railway Station is close to the town centre, adjacent to the Bus Station and harbour, and around a 10 minute walk from the station to the Guest House.

Coach

There are local `bus services from Penzance to most places around the Cornish peninsular and further afield.  All local services start from the Bus Station, where information is available, and some stop close by Morrab Road en route. National Express coach services run daily direct from Penzance and Truro to London and to most major cities in Britain.  
The journey to London Victoria may take between 8 hrs and 10 hrs, depending on traffic, with connections for London Underground, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports, and the Channel Tunnel rail link.

Air

Regular airline services operate from nearby Newquay - St. Mawgan Airport (NQY).   Ryanair operates to/from London Stanstead, and Air SouthWest to/from Gatwick.

Penzance Heliport

There is a regular helicopter service to the Isles of Scilly from Penzance Heliport, which is alongside the principal A30 road route, less than a mile from the town centre.  A private shuttle bus operates between Penzance Railway Station and the Heliport, leaving thirty minutes before each helicopter departure, and collecting returning passengers.
